Written in the voice of Amy Winehouse and those who knew her, Instruments of Summer is a collection of persona poems exploring Winehouse’s rise to fame and the tumultuous and tragic circumstances surrounding her death. With titles inspired by tabloid headlines, the poems serve as a retelling of those headlines, the persona in each poem attempting to take ownership over the story being told.
